Inquiry means: to form questions about our world (within us, between us, around us and beyond), to search for and examine information to help find the answers, and to create new ideas. In searching for the answers, we need to use a variety of thinking skills to locate, sort, process, examine, see relationships, analyse, evaluate and extend on information.
We use CLUES for our big inquiry focus, to examine current news, in reading (e.g., scanning and skimming is 'Uncovering and Examining Evidence), in writing (e.g., Engaging in Action is writing a poem using all the poetic features we have been learning) and in other areas of our learning. Sharing our work on this blog is one example of "Sharing the Journey".

TERM 3'S INQUIRY
In Term 3 this year we are inquiring into running businesses.
We 'Captured the Big Picture' by watching videos of Market Days, listening to experiences of our Year 6's who did prep last year and discussing what we know about running businesses.
We then 'Looked for Direction' - We recapped what we now knew and then asked the questions we needed the answers to, so that we could be successful business people.
We then began 'Uncovering and Examining Information' - We have learnt how to record our cash flow in our cash books (we even got paid for attending a course on account management, although Mr Shore made us play 'Deal or No Deal' to negotiate our pay, so some of us got paid more than others!) We have also learnt how to write c.v.'s and cover letters, do market research, create decision grids, design our products, order materials, etc. We often find we need to ask new questions as problems come up.
Our action will be the Market Day in Week 10 and we soooooo can't wait for this! However, we know we have a lot more learning, thinking and producing to do before then!
