Oral language/Presentations

In Term 2, we began learning how to present information using Keynote and Powerpoint computer programmes.  We are sharing them this term too.  We learnt that we should not be facing the board and reading out our presentations.  We should be facing the audience and teaching them and answering their questions.  This means we need to understand the material well.  Here are our Success Criteria for good presentations.

Success Criteria for Keynote/Powerpoint presentations:

  • Write facts, not opinions
  • Write short notes on the main facts, because you will verbalise the details
  • Proofread to check for mistakes, get someone else to proofread as well
  • Add pictures, diagrams and maps to help audience learn
  • Add an email address or a way to contact the presenter
  • Understand your information thoroughly!!!!!!!!!! (including the meaning of every word). You WILL be asked questions
  • Answer all questions in a friendly, positive way
  • Make eye contact with your audience and scan across them
  • Don't read it out, take brief looks, then face audience to explain to them
We have been doing such a FANTASTIC job that Miss White thinks there is no point her being in the class.  She thinks from now on she can just spend her week in the staffroom reading magazines and drinking coffee and us kids can just teach each other! :-)
